Travel firms launch discount tours to woo summer vacationers

Local travel companies have launched a range of tours this summer with big price discounts for many products compared to the same period last year.

Vietravel is selling four-day tours to destinations in the Mekong Delta from VND5.49 million per person, a sharp decrease of 57% over last summer. These tours take in Can Tho, Chau Doc and Ha Tien, or Can Tho, Soc Trang, Ca Mau and Bac Lieu.

The company is offering a four-day tour to Chu Lai, Quang Ngai and Ly Son Island at a price of VND5.65 million per person and another four-day tour to Danang and Hoi An cities from VND4.69 million per person, down 32% and 36% respectively.

This summer, Vietrantour has launched many tours to central Vietnam and islands with prices falling by 5-10% over last summer owing to cooperation deals with local airlines. The company has attracted more than 10,000 guests and the majority of them have booked tours to coastal destinations.

Vietrantour’s highlights are the tours to Danang and Hue with prices from VND5.49 million per person, Con Dao Island off mainland Ba Ria-Vung Tau Province from VND5.99 million per person and Phu Quoc Island off mainland Kien Giang Province from VND7.9 million per person.

Hanoi Red Tours has introduced discount tours to coastal areas from the north to the south, including Nhon Ly Beach in Binh Dinh Province, Dai Lanh and Tuy Hoa in Phu Yen Province, and Ninh Chu in Ninh Thuan Province.

As for outbound tours, Vietravel has discounted tours to the west coast of the U.S. by VND8 million to VND48.5 million per person and to the UK by VND14 million to VND49.99 million per person.

Vietravel expects such discount tours would help the company woo 180,000 guests this summer, surging 30% compared to last summer.

Nguyen Thi Huyen, managing director of Vietrantour, was quoted by Vietnam News Agency as saying that the company has partnered with local and foreign airlines to offer various tours with lower prices to Thailand, Japan, Europe and Dubai this summer.

Hanoi Red Tours said it has diversified products this summer thanks to its partnerships with carriers including Vietnam Airlines and Jetstar Pacific.
